  1. The people had many remedies for their ailments in former times. The following are some of the most generally used in the district.
    Toothache :- Touch the tooth with a frog. Fill the tooth with candle grease or oaten meal[?]. Smoke tobacco. Go to the forge and get three horses nails. Bless the tooth with them, that is make the Sign of the Cross over the tooth with each nail then stick the nails in a thorn bush and the tooth will cease to ache. This cure was very much believe in long ago, and the people used to come
