  1. Long ago there was a deep valley where Island Lake stands today. The boys of the district used to play hurley in this district.
    One day during a game of hurley a widow's only son was killed. The poor woman was almost distracted with grief. She pined and grieved over her lost child. In the meantime everybody who passed through the valley placed a stone on the spot
