    today. They were only bought on very rare occasions such as for marriage or when a man was going to England. When the marriage was over, they did not forget to take care of their shoes. They were only worn on special occasions such as going to town, to mass, and even then they did not put them on when they left the house, but carried them the greater part of the way and put them on when they came near the town.
