  1. Fishing
    The fishing industry has been carried n in our district for generations. Some years ago the fishermen used rowboats at present fishing is carried on by motor boats and very year these get bigger and faster enabling fishermen to fish further from the coast.
    Fishing might be divided into two classes Summer and Winter fishing. Summer fishing is mostly taken up with catching Salmon. Drift nets being used.
    Pollocks are also caught in summer with rubber eels. Plaice are plentiful and are caught by means of trawl nets.
    In autumn the principal catches are codfish and haddock
