    Along the sea board of Inishowen and in fact the entire coast of Donegal every little bay had its quota of fishing boats as it was the chief means of a livelihood. Five men in each boat by means of sailing and rowing they went twenty miles to the fishing ground as weather permitted.
    All fishing gear was locally hand made and chiefly spun by the woman folk from the flaa grown on their own patches of ground. This industry had to be supplied and one of several rope walks was started in eighteen hundred and ten.
