    Hiccough
    Get a lump of sugar, and soak it in vinegar and dissolve it in the mouth.
    Get a cup of water, and take four mouths ful and when you begin to take the first. say, on the Name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
    Take some water and sip it slowly. It is easy knowing when to stop, because when you aren't jerked so violently you may stop sipping. Then it will stop.
    Sand and hold your breath, and while you close your eyes think of the Host being held up in the Mass.
    Think of the place you were kneeling in the church the Sunday before.
    Hold your wrist tightly, and do not breathe.
    Put salt on you tongue, and it will stop.

  2. Chilblains
    Cut an onion in two halves, and rub it well into them.
    Get a spoon with a juice of butter on it, and hold it over the fire until it melts. Then, the salt will come to the top. Skim it off, and put the butter on the chilblain.
    Put red hot coals in a bath of water, and bathe your feet in it.
    Spit on washing soda, and rub it on them.
    Dip them in brine.
    Get a swede turnip, and scoop a hole in it, and
