  1. about fifty years ago when the fenian organisation was in full swing there lived in the near vicinity of Ardrah a cruel landlord by the name of Burke. This man owned thousands of acres of land. He being of a avaricious nature was determined to acquire more. Whole villages were to be destroyed by the crowbar brigade and the occupants turned out to die by the wayside.
    The Fenian organisation were determined to destroy this cruel man and put an end to evictions for all time in the parish. Some eight of the Fenians were picked to carry out the
