- The Leipreachan or Mermaid
It is always people's desire to catch a Leipreachan and to tell them where the pot of gold is hidin. An old man in the townland of Cloonmahara which is in the Polredmond district, caught one and asked him where the gold was hidden. The Leipreachan told him that he would tell him but that he would not enjoy it. He got it but died in a week's time. - Informant
