    Long ago there lived a man named Shaun Murnane and he was a great fiddler.

    Long ago there lived a man named Shaun Murnane and he was a great fiddler.
    Outside his cottage door on a chair under the shade of a big hawthorn tree he would sit on a summer's evening after his day's work.
    He would start at playing until you would think the hills around were ringing with the music.
    One moonlight night in the harvest time and Shaun on his way home from a neighbour's house he heard the sound of music coming out of the Lis that was near him.
    Shaun stole into the shadows of the hawthorns to listen to the music.
    He soon learned it and the fairies told him not to ever play it at a dance or he would pay
