There is an incident told about Hegarty's fort.

There is an incident told about Hegarty's fort.
In Tom Hegarty's father's time, the landlord ordered that all the fences should be knocked down and drawn away with a horse and cart.
He did so, and when they were having dinner, they left the horse feeding in the field.
When they came out they saw the horse all sores, and biles of every description.
They then let the horse go and people said that it was the "Good people" that destroyed the horse.
There is a story also told about Connor's fort in Tullamore.

She heard a tap at the kitchen door.
On opening it, she saw a browne haired woman standing outside it.
