  1. The wool was clipped off the sheep with a big scissors called a shears.
    It was washed, combed and graded. Then it was dyed and spun into thread.
    The dye was got chiefly in holes in the bog or the bark of certain trees was used. The next process was to weave it into cloth.
    The principal kinds were flannel and frieze.
    The frieze gave very long wear and frieze coats were very warm.
