- The name of my Townland is Kilmaine. The meaning of that word is middle Church. St Patrick build a church there and that is wht it is called Kilmaine. There are thing two houses there altogether. The most of them are slated, and nine of them are thatched. There are only four old aged pensioners and they have not much Irish stories.A lot of them emigrated to America and England. The reason why they emigrated was they could not find work around the place. There is a Protestant Church and a Catholic church in it.There are a lot of old ruins around the place, there are(continues on next page)
