    America.
    The blankets made by the weaver were very thick and heavy. When they were brought home they were "scoured". They were washed again and again in scalding hot water. This was necessary to remove the oil from the wool, byt it made the blankets very thick. Sometimes they called this process "thickening the blankets."
    The weaver also wove flannel for quilts. This was then taken to a quilter. The quilters frame was of an oblong shape and there was a moveable shaft which kept the quilt in place. This quilting was done like a running (stich) stitch in
