  1. Last night when I was again visiting in Mrs Dunleavy's she told me all about the shoes they used to wear long ago. She is ninety two years of age and lives in the village of Derryronane, Swinford.
    The people of long ago used not to wear shoes until they were sixteen or seventeen years of age. When their parents used to get a new pair of shoemakers' shoes they used to give the old ones to one of the children. When they used to get the old shoes they used to cos be delighted and to patch them and polish them and leave them up for Sundays. There is a man in the neighbourhood called Tom Durkin whose father used to make clogs Tom is now about seventy six years of age. His father used
