  1. I had another talk with my mother last night about the fairy forts. She got this information from my grandfather. There is a fort a hundred miles from my home called Caiseal gambha or the fort that used to lend money. She told me that years ago a band of men used to go round the countryside and tell the people pay no rents or rates. Those men were called goffy or ribbon men.
    They used to tell the people leave money under a large flag in the fort and at night they would come and take it away. This fort is as round as a wheel and it is surrounded with a high stone wall. Some parts of the wall stands 15 feet
