Dreams to some come true. They come with grief to more

Dreams to some come true. They come
    with grief to more.
As did to me my country in that
    dear old Eireann's shore.
    I dreamn't I stood upon a hill
    beside a lovely vale.
It was there I spied a comly maid
And her name was Grainne Weil
Her lovely hair hung down her neck
As she was dressed in Green.
I thought she was the fairest
soul that ever my eyes had seen.
As I drew hear I then could see the pleasant morning gale.
As she went along she sung
    her song.
    Saying I'm poor old Grainne
    Weil.
    Since O'Connells time in twenty
nine we had not braver men.
We struggled hard both day and
night to gain our rights again
But by coersion they were bound.
Our sons were sent to gaol.
So do not fret we will have good
times yet said poor old Grainne Wail.
