  1. My home district is Glentogher, my Townland Carrowmore, my Parish Carndonagh and my Barony Inishowen.
    Glentogher got its name from a serpent which was at Ard na Peiste in the time of St. Patrick. This serpent was the terror of everybody who passed by on their way to Derry.
    The people told St. Patrick about it. He went up to the place in which it was and stood over it praying. Then as he was banishing it, it began to move. It started to crawl and it crawled on until it reached Lough Derg. Saint Patrick followed it to the banks of the Lough.
    On the spot where it entered the Lough St Patrick thrust his staff into its side. It began to bleed. It dyed the waters red with its blood and made this place its grave. The people sold the water as wine after this but Patrick changed it to natural water again and stopped them. Saint Patrick blessed a well in Glentogher at the
