    sent sporting through the way,
A jaunting car took wings at
Cork and flew to Dingle Bay,
The garvy who was driving it
As soon as he came down said

There never was such a wind
    before since little Christmas night
    And every cabin window glooms
    the blessed candle light
And that is why no lives were
lost at least 'tis what they say
Since then the Irish always light
    the candle on the day.
