It is a sign of a very bad summer when when the frogs spawn in a very shallow pool. It is a sign of a very hot summer to see the frogs walking about the fields looking for a deep pool of water.

When there is far off ring round the moon it is said that there is a near hand storm and when there is a near hand ring round the moon it is said that there is a far off storm approaching.
