    One time there lived a very poor man who had a wife and a very large family.

    near if they had lost a cow but there could be no owner got. They kept the cow on, and reared some good heifers and always had plenty of milk.
    One fair morning the man said to his wife that he was going to sell the old cow because he had had her long enough and he had some good young cows which would take place. His wife thought it would be no harm to sell her either. So off he started with the cow.
    There was a lake beside the road to the fair. When the man reached it all the other cows broke out of the byre and ran and jumped into the lake. The cow which he had ran away from him too and jumped into the lake and was never seen again.
