    burnt in 1922. When the house was burnt every part of it fell except the chimney where the vestments were. The late Major W.A. Persse was a very refined gentleman and a man of good qualities. As far as can be known he was the first in Ireland who owned a motor car. Even though he was a protestant he often carried the scholars up and down to Ballymana N.S. if they had been on his way.
