    evictions were very common in former times. A man named Michael Mc Donagh in our village and his wife and family were evicted by Mr. Vahy
    because they were not able to pay their rent. When they were evicted they went over to America, and John Roach got their land from the Landlord. This is the only eviction my grandmother can remember of in Curryane.
    Farms in olden times were usually sub divided in marriage. A man usually gave half of his land to his daughter, and half to his son. Nowadays farms are never sub divided, each person gets the whole farm.
