    and everyone brought a quill to the master and he would point it for them. The parents liked the Irish language.
    They wrote in copy books and carried them under their caps. There was no compulsory attendance act. They had no blackboard only a big flag and a shank of a pipe to write on them. They used rods for canes, but very seldom they were punished as they were very good.
    The Irish was called bramp as every county pronounced it in a different way.
