    weather. But when a fog is seen going North from Slieve Sneacht it is a sign of bad weather. When a fog remains over the top of Slieve Sneacht it indicates bad weather and when it is clear overhead it foretells good weather.
    When the smoke of a fire is seen going up straight it is a sign of good weather. But when the smoke goes up crooked it is a sign of bad weather. When a cat is seen sitting with her back to the fire it is a sign of bad weather. When a cat is seen scratching a stool or chair it is a sign of windy weather.
    When rain is going to fall the animals know even before it fall and they go quickly to shelter. When cows stay out late at night it is a sign of good weather but when they hurry home it is a sign of bad weather. When the sky is very blue it is a sign of a storm and thunder and lightening. Dust on the road is a sign of a coming storm.
