  1. A man named Pat O'Neill lived in Drumshambo about the year 1848. Pat was a great mower. He mowed two acres and a half a day with a scythe.
He went in for many contests. One day a man named Sean Beirne competed against him. The two of them got two acres each to mow.
The two men started at eight o'clock. They kept mowing until 12 o'clock. Then they got their lunch. Pat had almost his first acre mowed, when Sean had only half done.
Pat had his two acres finished at half six. Sean finished his two acres at half seven. In one day Pat had mowed 24 cocks of hay each weighting 8 curts.
