  1. The following are a list of local beliefs with regard to the weather.
    If the sun rises in a red sky it is a sign of rain. When the moon is surrounded by a circle or when it is threatening with a mist rain. Other signs of bad weather are, if a cat tears wood, if a dog eats grass or if the walls are damp. Sometimes the flags of the kitchen floor become wet.
    "A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning."
    "A rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight."
    Usually when rain is threatening "the distant hills look near and clear."
    The south-west winds usually bring most rain to my district. The
