    A Local happening
    Four years ago there was an accident on the Shannon. Four men were drowned.
    Two four oared riggers left the boat-house one evening in the month of June. They decided to have a race. The two crews left the quay. One went towards Limerick and the other went towards Boyle. Which ever of the crews returned to the quay first would win the race.
    The crew that went in the direction of Limerick returned first. They waited for the other crew at the quay. When there was no sign of them they rowed up the river to meet them. They saw the men of the other crew
