  1. The boys in this district used to go in the wren boys on St. Stephen's days. They were dressed up so as not to be known.
This custom still exists. People used to make a cross of rushes on St. Brigid's day and hang it from the roof of the house. People used to make a bonfire on St. John's day and the old people used to sit by it and say their prayers. This custom still prevails. it is a custom to light candles on Christmas Night. The people light twelve small candles on the Twelfth Night. People stay up until twelve o'clock on the last night of the old year to hear the church bells ringing.
