  1. Old Songs - The Smashing of the Van (continued)

    Michael Sheridan got the following

    (continued from previous page)
We'll go together, like loyal brothers
And with one another we will agree
We'll meet the van and smash it open
And Kelly and Deasy we'll let go free
But all my good people, what followed after
Those men were taken as you may see
For by judge and jury, they were found guilty
As they died through martyrs of their country
It was sad to say, on that fatal morning
When their friends assembled, to take the last farewell
It was there in chorus, They sang (?)
As they marched them prisoners from the prison cell
The clock struck eight and their friends departed
The wicked hangman he did appear
The bowed their heads and kissed each other
For they knew their hour was drawing near
They looked around them not a son from Ireland
    Was to be seen
Although in thousands the came from miles around
to see those heroes die for the green
    Patrick McGough got the following
information from his Grandfather Pat Huane age 74 years. He lives in Boleyboy
    The glens of Aherlow
    My name is Patrick Sheehan
    My years are thirty four
    Tipperary is my native place
