  1. Not very many years ago an old woman named Nellie Mc [?] used to go around from house to house knitting as she went along the road. She was very poor and she stayed in houses for a few days at a time and she used to knit stockings or socks for those with whom she used to stay.
Everyone always gave her a charity because she was very decent. When she got too old and feeble she went to the workhouse and she died there. Everyone was very heartbroken after her because she was of great help to the people, and they never disobliged her.
