  1. Long ago there was a fair held in Dromod every New Year's day.
The nearest town in which a fair is held is Mohill. There is one every month. It is not held on the street but in a field called the "Green".
Toll is always paid on cattle sold at the fair, 3d for a young. 6d for any beast older. The Nicholls, Drumlim Dromod collect it.
Luck is always given to the man who buys the animal. When the animal is bought and the bargain is made the two parties strike hands and then the animal is marked with a raddle.
The principal fairs of the year are Monaghan day, the 8th of May and the 19th of October.
