  1. Potatoes are grown for the "table" in every little farm in this district. We sow about half an acre annually and this is how we do it.
    First we score the field with a spade making each ridge about eighteen inches in breadth. This work is done in the end of February or early in March. The scored ridge is left there untouched until the middle of April and then the grass in the inverted sod has almost decayed. Now if the land
