  1. Cloch A' Mheadair

    Long ago the people had no metal articles nor even tin vessels and their only way to boil water and warm milk was by a Cloch a' Mheadair or churn stone which was used in every house in the country. This Cloch A' Mheadair was a small stone oval shaped and weighing exactly one pound.

    When the stone was heated in the fire it was put into the wooden vessel in which the milk or water was. The heat of the stone passed to the liquid and in that way they boiled their water for their tea.
