  1. Almost a hundred years ago there lived an old woman in the townland of Leckaun named Biddy McGowan. Every Saturday she used rise about four o'clock in the morning and she used churn a whole churn of milk herself without any body to help her. Then she used walk eight miles to Sligo carrying a firkin of butter on her back. She used sell her butter and she used walk home again and she used carry heavy loads of goods on her back also. Then when she would eat her dinner she used to go out working in the fields. There was nobody living with this old woman and she had to do all the work herself.
