    the people of this locality. Some tinkers camp in line at Benbo but they do not reemain there long. At present there are tinkers camped at Benbo but I do not know their names.

  2. Our parish also has a tinker living in it. His name is Coyle. He spent his early life in America and returned to Benbo where he had a little house. He is now an old age pensioner and has given up his trade.
    Before his time a family of tinkers named Gorman lived there. They were popular and quiet and it is thought that they were some of the descendants of the Gormans who were banished from Gormanstown across the Shannon by Cromwell.
    Paddie Gorman the last of the tinkers to live there was in the Boyle Militia and delighted to go through the army drill for the local people. The only member of his famly now lives in Sligo and is known by the nickname "Biddy
