  1. About eleven years ago a great storm swept the country over. In the Leitrim area it did a lot of damage. A national school about two miles from the village of Fenagh which was built on the side of a hill in a lonely part of the country was knocked down. The teachers escaped but a few children in running to get out got badly hurt. One little boy was killed. As he was going out a big stone fell on him.
A lot of trees were uplifted all over the countryside. Stacks of oats and hay were scattered. The storm raged for about five hours.
