People help one another when they are getting ready the ground for the potatoes.The people of the house pick the potatoes. They are put in a heap and covered with rushes. The local potatoes are Arran Bonnets, Kerr Pinks, Arran Pilot and Arran Kairn. Potatoes are used for dinner and for feeding hens.
