    The destruction of spawning salmon and the poisoning of rivers is much discouraged locally and is gradually becoming a thing of the past. But fishermen who use the "strokawl" and net and barbed gaff and spear on individual white salmon maintain that it is legitimate a way of procuring a fish and even more legitimate than the netting of salmon by the hundred of the river mouths and on Killarney Lakes.
