  1. No dyeing is done in this school district except with prepared dye which is bought. Formerly a dye was made from sorrel. Woolen clothes were dyed in this way but the cloth had to be cleansed thoroughly. New cloth made from home made thread or stockings similarly made would not take this dye if any particle of oil remains in the wool. The woolen article was steeped in a barrel of urine and then squeezed and washed. The urine was stored in a barrel for some time before it became effective.
