    About 60 years ago the people of this district wanted a reduction in their rent, but the landlord, who was Vaughan Jaxson, refused them.

    would be a freer country. The landlord said that he was proud of him for having spoken the truth. He said he would not take the 5 pounds, but that he would take 3 pounds. My father have it to him, and from that day forward the yearly rent my father paid was 3 pounds.
