- On the first Good Friday three birds flew over the cross, the philibin, the Heron, and the swallow. The Heron was the second bird to fly over the cross and when it saw the Jews crucfiying Our Lord it screached out "give him strenth to enjure his pain" and after that he was not molested by his enemies.
