    Rossclogher was the principal residence and stronghold of the chiefs Duncarly Castle, near Tullaghan, erected at a later period also belonged to them. We find Dartry and its chief mentioned in the Annals of the Four Masters as early as the year twelve hundred and twenty and probably the date of the erection of Rossclogher Castle was considerably prior to this.
