   The potatoes are cut into pieces leaving an eye in each piece before planting If the potatoes are small they are planted whole without being cut The cut potatoes are put on the manure in the drills and the drills are closed in with the plough If the potatoes are being planted in a small garden this is usually done with a spade The local people don't help one another at the potato sowing each provides his own labour During the summer months the farmer sprays and moulds his potatoes the mouldring is done by the plough when the crop is big but in small garden's the spade is used.

2. Festival Customs

   On Hallowe'en night it is the custom in this district for boys and girls to dress up and go from house to house singing and dancing. For sometime before Hallowe'en much time is spent in preparing the dresses that are used for a disguise.
