It was on a fine October morn
    In April last July
The moon lay thick upon the ground
And the snow shone in the sky
    2
    The flowers were sweetly singing
And birds were in full bloom
When I went down the cellar
    To wash the upstairs room
    3
It was on a Monday morning
    On Wednesday just at night
I saw then thousand miles away
A house just out of sight
    4
    The doors they were backwards
And the front was at the back
I stood alone between the moores
    And it was whitewashed black
