- A Story about Mass-LeeMass-Lee is a field on top of Binon Hill in the district of Craigadooish about two miles from St. Johnston. This is how it got its name.In the days of the Penal Laws when the priests were not allowed to say Mass. There was a priest came to Craigadooish. The story says he got his chapel burned to the ground and he himself had to go on the run.When he came to Binon Hill in Craigadooish he made an altar out of a stone on Mass-Lee. He said Mass at the stone every morning. the priest had the stone so nicely fixed that one would think it was an altar.One night a man by the name of McClintock went up to Mass-Lee along with two other men to roll the stone down the hill. They started to roll the stone but they only turned it upside down.(continues on next page)
