  1. I stood there entranced as they swung down the valley
    The tread of Young Ireland awakened again.
    The spirit that slept since the great Fenian rally.
    Brought legions amarching oer mountains & plain
    The flower of our manhood with martial precision.
    Let echoes agoing from hillsides of green
    For Ireland they've made an historic decision
    Soon sealed by the blood of the men of '16.
    II
    A smiling sun shone on that sight sould inspiring
    As a token of freedom I hailed it's glad light & I knew that those brave men would labour untiring.
    & I prayed that the great God would aid in the fight
    The great martyrs who died for the cause in all ages.
    Would peacefully sleep to behold such a scene & the heroes who dwell in our History's pages.
    In spirit march forth with the men of '16.
