- (continued from previous page)we shall have snow. If the birds fly high it is a sign of good weather but if they fly low it is a sign of rain. When the animals stand with their backs to the ditch it is a sign of very bad weather or when the insects annoy people it is the surest sign of rain that could be. When the smoke goes up crooked the chimney it is also a sure sign of rain.
