- There is a rock down in Greenville named "Cnoc an Aifrinn" which means the well of the mass and there is a well near it called "Tobair an Aifrinn" which means the well of the mass. It is said there was mass said there in the penal times. There are many fields around here with names on them such as "Gort Fada" because it is a long field."Gort a Valley" because it is very low"Gort Mór" because it is a very big field"Cnocán" because there is a big hill in it"Móinín" because it is very boggy land"Cotter's Callow" because it belonged to Mr Cotter who is now dead.There is a bog about three miles from here named "Trenches" because it belonged to a man named Mr. Trench.(continues on next page)
