  1. St Stephen's Day in this district is commemerated by a number of boys and girls going out in bunches with music and dancers to bury the wren.
    When they come to the houses the sing:-
    The wren, the wren, the King of all birds,
    On St. Stephen's Day she was got in a furze,
    Although she was little
    Her family was great,
    Rise up, young lady,
    And give us a "trate".
    On Good Friday the people set early potatoes.
    On Easter Sunday a bunch of school-children have a prutóg in which they strive to see which of them are able to eat the most eggs.
    Whitsun Week is a crossed week as the person who goes near water will drown. The old people frightened the children by telling them that if they went near a porringer of water they would be drowned.
    Hallow'een is a night of sporting for young people. They duck
