  1. The names of the local landlords were La Touche, Lauder and Lord Leitrim. The La Touches were looked upon as good landlords, but Lord Leitrim was a very bad man. There were very few evictions carried out in this district. The La Touches had been landlords for several generations.
Lord Leitrim was very much disliked by his tenants. If one of his tenants (g) dug a field without letting him know it he would make them turn it back.
Mr La Touche built several school and he was manager of some of them. He did not punish his tenants for trivial acts. He gave some of his tenants whitethorn bushes to make fences and he paid them for doing the work.
There was some land called "glebe land" and the rents were paid for the upkeep of the clergy.
I got this information from my father.
